Normally, after drawing a trendline on a chart, the mouse cursor
changes back to selection mode (where you can drag the chart and select
items).
But sometimes you will want to draw multiple trendlines. Constantly
going back to select the line tool again can slow you down - so
BullCharts has two time saving shortcuts built in.
Quick Repeat with the CTRL key
If you hold down the CTRL key when you are in
select mode (normal mouse arrow) then you can repeat the last used line
study tool.
Steps:
- Select the trendline tool as per normal. Notice that the mouse
cursor has a small blue line next to it, indicating that you're about
to draw a trendline.
- Draw your first trendline. Once it's drawn, the mouse cursor changes back to the plain arrow.
- Hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard. The mouse cursor will change back to the trendline cursor again.
- With the CTRL key still held, draw another trendline.
- You can do this as many times as you like.
This trick will work for any line study, though I find it is particularly useful for: trendlines, rulers, and time analysis pegs
Lock Repeat
Click on the repeat icon
to draw lots of trendlines. When it is turned on, the mouse cursor will
not go back to select mode after drawing each line. That is, you can
just keep drawing them.
Remember to turn it off again when you're finished.
I find that this is best used only when a large number of an item is
being drawn - and that the CTRL shortcut is better for other situations.
