Interesting idea, Owen.
BullScan doesn't currently support this but I think we should be able to add it. I'll put it on our wish-list. |

Peter, instead of using calandar weeks, can we scan using a moving week
approach? That way we dont even need to use incomplete weeks.

Thanks for that Pete - it is "bloodyfantastic" This is a very positive step forward and if our member traders are into Hull and variations on Hull - this will be just great. Many thanks again - I really find BullCharts to be an amazing developmental system. Rhubarb

A numer of the built in scans (eg Alan Hull scans), and perhaps your
custom scans, perform their calculations on weekly data. Typically this
means that you would need to wait until after market close on Friday
before performing any analysis using these scans so that the weekly bar
for the current week can be included in the scan.
However, some traders have expressed interest in doing their analysis on Thursday night - allowing them to act before the weekend trading break, which can bring unexpected changes. This is possible in BullScan. Tick the "Include incomplete period" checkbox in the scan properties and perform a scan on Thursday evening (after downloading Thursdays data). Then when BullScan loads the weekly data for each security being scanned, it will add an extra bar representing the Monday to Thursday data for the current week. This method can also be used in other periods, such as monthly, and at any time during the period (not just on Thursdays). Changing the "scan as at" date will also make the scan results appear as though they would have on the specified date. A word of caution: because the data is being collected before the week is finished, the scan results may change once the week has completed and final data is available. |
