The Coppock Indicator?

One indicator that is favoured by some people to help pick a bear market bottom is the Coppock Indicator. It is available in BullCharts. And BC will offer to change your price chart to a monthly, because that was the intention of the designer of the Coppock. Colin Nicholson has written about it.

Question: Is this a useful tool to help spot a bear market bottom?

Okay,

It's now mid-June 2009, and many commentators are touting that we have seen the lows.  Some of us are not yet convinced.  Some commentators still think that a new market low might be made sometime over the next months.  (But this forum does NOT have any "advice", and no predictions of where the market is going).

Anyway, the CoppocK.  Check out the latest chart of either the XJO (S&P/ASX 200) or the XAO (All Ordinaries), with the Coppock - on a monthly chart.  See the chart here.

You can see that the Coppock bottomed in March, and was higher in both May, and so far in June.

You can also see that the Coppock made a lower low than anytime since 1986.

Perhaps the Coppock is indicating that the market bottom has passed?

Any views?
