I want to scan for 3/8 crossover BUT why does the scan show stock that crossed the MAs 2 days after that occured
How can I scan for the 3/8 to show up on the day ? I have tried 3/7 or 2/8 but still the same stock show up ? The 1/8 is a bit better but even shows stock where no cross over occured. |

It seems to work on my version. Scan criteria: 3 bar simple MA of Close crosses above 8 bar simple MA of Close Are you putting in the correct parameters for what you want eg simple, close etc and make sure in the criteria build dialog box that you have "of 0 bars ago"
Try it on this small test group using 5 March data and look at results.
Symbol Name MA_3 MA_8
AAX Ausenco Limited 3.943 3.925 AWE AWE Limited 2.593 2.591 BLD Boral Limited. 5.440 5.425 As a final check, right click the lines of both MAs on the chart itself "Copy plot data" and paste it into an Excel spreadsheet to compare the actual data figures.

Hi Cudderbean, thanks for your reply. Just ran tyh scan . I use the EMA but changing that to your SMA my scan came up with these

When i look at the stock you mention above they are crossing correctly. This is weird.
What do you mean with your last comments about properties. Where is that located |

I ran the SMA scan on the first 6 in your group VMG VLA etc . They all got rejected on latest Friday 5 March figures, whereas they are appearing in yours. Therefore you are doing something wrong in your selection of parameters. When you click Edit on the scan criteria, have you set the "First value to compare" and "Second value to compare" at "0 bars ago unchamged" Presumably you are using latest data and not a date mid last week by mistake. By properties I mean right click on the MA on the chart itself, then look at the last item in the pop up menu When you examine the actual figures in Excel (v useful for debugging) yes they are indeed crossing 2 days ago... so the error must lie in your parameter setting.... go through every single line.

Thanks Cudderbean.
Checked that I was up to date and noticed that Use Snapshot box was ticked. Checked that off and the scan turned up different stock and had AWE AAX etc in the list. Bit of a puzzle really because my latest snapshot download was time stamped at 4.45 on Friday 5th. Don't know why that would effect the MA crossovers. Anyway it seems to be OK now Thanks for your help |
